You can add an empty "work" PBL at the top of your library path and copy the object you want to "check out" into that PBL.
If you are online again and have a network connection, check out the object in the original PBL and copy/move the object back from your "work" PBL.
Also in the Source Control options, you have an option "This project required that I sometimes work offline".

It may sound basic, but when I added a column table directly to a projection node of a CL view I don't get any data in data preview. I previewed data both from projection and semantics. However, I have loads of data in the table and preview works fine on the table. am I missing something?

you can't add fields to P_ORGIN other than by modification, so the usual way to go is indeed populating VDSK1 with BTRTL or a combination with other fields like WERKS.
It's a very simple piece of configuration explained in the IMG. You find it under the IMG branch where infotype 0001 is configured.
If you build your authorisations on this field, make sure you configure it so it can't be overwritten.
There is one other way:
Use auth object P_NNNNN instead. You can define the field you need, generate it, add it to roles, and then activate the check in T77S0.
It's mentioned in this presentation, which also has a step by step guide in the appendix:
But VDSK1 is the simpler solution by far, unless you need that field for a different purpose.

Like other SAP users, we have many employees with ' and # in their names and addresses. It appears that SAP suppresses the special characters for submission of W2 data to the IRS, as well as to various states and municipalities, since we have never addressed it, yet we have no rejections.
I can't imagine trying to clean this data at this late date; furthermore it would be ineffectual since employees update their personal info in ESS all the time. Unless SAP locks down the ability to enter special characters in pertinent fields no data clean up will ever be enough.
Can SAP provide that same standard code in a note to suppress the invalid characters for the ACA program, rather than have all of the SAP customers try to write something custom?

Really it depends how the OM structure is set up but doesn't sound simple to me. Therefore, I would recommend to build a custom table to store the approval level, limits, etc and then use that in your custom WF to determine the approvers.

Looks like the system is giving you a perfect guidance what to do.
It's got nothing to do with the work centre directly, but the IT0001 record you are updating with this assignment has a non-existing value in the contract field. Add it to the table for the respective countrry or change field content.
Or does your post mean this didn't work? Then please let us know what happened when you tried to follow the instructions.

Yes we have been creating the duplicates only and would be transporting them only.
SAP has given the Smart Business Download tool for downloading the KPI artifacts(.CSV & .HDBTI) and am sure that would go fine.
My problem is after that, when we have to upload these .CSV and .HDBTI files to package in HANA and transport the package. Since, I am not well versed with the HANA transports, can you please guide on this step. How can we upload the .CSV and .HDBTI files to the package and transport them. Is it necessary to use WebIDE or there is an alternative way to upload the .CSV and .HDBTI files to the HANA Package???

Is it possible to install the Wily Introscope without using a Solution Manager system? Once the servers do not have SAP systems installed yet.
I was wondering that i could do this:
- Install Wily Introscope Manager
- Install Wily Introscope Agent in each server.
or
- Install Wily Introscope Manager one server
- Install Wily Introcope Agent in the other servers and connect them to the Wily Introscope Manager.

i need to massively retire hundreds of asset in a company code, while other assets always in this company code won't be retired.
To accomplish user requirement i must change period control methods for retirement from 06 to 02, then i can retire the assets.
After this retirement i want to set 06 again because for the asset that remain alive i dont want period control method for retirement 02.
After this i will run AFAB at 31.12 .
Do you think this change may cause any critical issues?

Hi Joshua,
Yes, you can select the tables. The best replication type can vary from what scenario you have. If you want to replicate only the changes, then the transactional replication might be the best one. Merge replication might be more complicated due to the usage of triggers for example.
There are network bandwidth and latency also that should be taken into account when choosing one, but the Books Online link I gave you cover this topic.

Working with SAP 9.0 PL12 US localization.
A Sales Order has downpayment linked to it. When printing the Sales Order (PLD) it automatically prints out the downpayment as well as the Payment documents therefore resulting in a lot of wastage of paper!
I checked out an earlier SCN thread which was for an earlier SAP version, but there does not seem to be any resolution for this yet??

Since there is no standard way, I plan to use the TS_GET / TS_SET macro.

This sort of problem comes up every once in a while. The only universal answer is to save the email attachment data as a file on your application server, then use Excel on that machine to save a copy of the file into a format you can read.
This requires your application server to be Windows OS, there must be a copy of Excel on the application server, and your process must have permissions to call Excel.
